PRESS RELEASE – CoVerica Interns Awarded Inaugural IIAD Scholarships

(Dallas, TX) – September 14, 2020.

CoVerica is proud to announce two interns are the recipients of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas (IIAD) inaugural scholarship. Courtney Deike (Commercial Lines Producer), and Kaitlyn Kitchen (Administration) were each awarded $10,000 for this prestigious award. Courtney and Kaitlyn worked persistently to be eligible for this award, and they both have shown resilience throughout this year.

“What makes our program unique is our investment in education and training; the interns appreciate the opportunity to perform actual work and gain real-world experiences. It was great seeing Courtney and Kaitlyn grow from their experience,” says Mark Logsdon, CoVerica’s Intern Program Head and Sales Director.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be an active Gamma Iota Sigma member in their junior or senior year, have a minimum 3.3 GPA, and demonstrate completion of a risk management and insurance course at UT Dallas. The students were also required to submit an essay describing their activities with Gamma Iota Sigma and their experience with the risk management/insurance industry and how their education will impact their career.

This scholarship from the IIAD is one of the largest awards ever given to a student at the University of Texas at Dallas in Risk Management. The IIAD is one of the largest local trade associations in the United States and partners with the University of Texas at Dallas to provide scholarships to students in the Risk Management and Insurance field. Their mission statement is “Serving and strengthening independent agents through education, perpetuation, and promotion of goodwill.” The IIAD also helps forge lasting business partnerships and promotes advanced education with continuing education courses and certification courses.

“The scholarship program and available dollars would not have been possible without the passion and drive of the IIAD team, the board members, sponsors, and a host of committee members and volunteers. We are truly honored for Courtney Deike and Kaitlyn Kitchen to be the first-ever recipients of the inaugural scholarship,” says Rhonda Cox, CoVerica’s Vice President of Operations.
